Imperial Kiln Museum
Eight brick vaults sunk into the imperial kiln site, holding the shattered evidence of five centuries of court taste.
Built over the Ming Imperial Porcelain Factory, the museum’s interlocking vaults — half-buried, kiln-shaped — hold the reconstructed fragments of porcelain destroyed for imperfection four centuries before anyone could study them.
The permanent display walks from Yongle blue to Chenghua enamel; the repair studio, behind glass, shows conservators reassembling a Xuande bowl from four hundred shards. The building itself won international awards before it opened.
