Meet the artists

Chen Yuqing

3 works

Third-generation qinghua brush painter Chen Yuqing learned the “one-stroke dragon” from her grandmother in the old kiln district. Her landscape vases carry the river mist of the Chang into contemporary collections across Europe and North America. She paints every piece freehand; no two are identical.

Lin Haiming

Sculptor Lin Haiming fires his celadon forms for seventy-two hours in a wood kiln at the edge of Sanbao valley, letting flame and ash finish each surface. His “River Mist” series treats porcelain as frozen weather — a moment of fog held at 1,300°C.

Famille-rose enamel artist Su Wanqing restores imperial porcelain by day and paints her own quiet gardens by night. Her paired cups revive the “chicken cup” palette with a modern restraint that collectors call “a breath held in color.”
